The Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway (C&PRR) is a wholly volunteer run heritage railway operating both steam and diesel passenger services along its 3.5 mile line at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. The principle aim of the railway, which has charity status, is to restore and preserve and demonstrate to future generations the ambience and activities of this ex Great Western Railway branch line. In addition, to give a balanced view of railway activities, we also run a number of heritage and modern diesel services.
We have a vacancy for a volunteer Permanent Way Manager.
Working closely with the Infrastructure Director, this role involves managing the established volunteer team, monitoring the state of the track and associated Permanent Way responsibilities and setting work priorities. A high degree of organisational skill, with excellent communication and an ability to work around problems is a must. Experience of maintaining standard gauge track, both bullhead and flatbottom rails on timber and concrete sleepers is a requirement. A working knowledge of bullhead S and C is also an advantage.
We offer a fantastic team, a great working environment along the foothills of the Chilterns and you would be joining us at a really positive moment in the Association's history, having finally secured our long-term ambitions of a long term lease of the Princes Risborough station. This voluntary position involves working one day a week.
