Unique Photography Training Days

Half a century of Photography! Journalist and Railway Correspondent Phil Marsh has been taking photographs since 1965 - mainly of railways but also of wildlife, landscapes and the coast.

Phil joined the railways in 1973 and worked full-time for over 30 years and in 2003, set up his own company offering mainly railway-based consultancy. This covers operations, commercial bidding, media and PR activities. He was on the staff of The Railway Magazine for 5 years, in which time it won 'magazine of the year' and became, and still is, the largest selling railway title in Britain. He enjoyed the title of Chief Correspondent for around a decade and still is an occasional contributor.

Phil is now on the editorial team of Railnews, the industry paper and he writes and has pictures published on a regular basis for Heritage Railway, Rail Express, Railway Herald and on an occasional basis for Rail Infrastructure, Today's Railways and Modern Railways. He edited rail.co.uk for five years and during this media career (including working on the picture desk at IPC), which now spans 13 years, has had literally thousands of images published in print and on-line.

In 2017, he will, in conjunction with the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway and the Railway Herald, be leading photography training days at Chinnor. These will look at how to get the best out of your camera, improve your chances of having your images appear in print, plus giving you tips and hints about to how to take and print better images.

NOTE: Participants will need to bring their own equipment. Light refreshments and lunch will be provided where appropriate. Steam and Wildlife courses will be held at Chinnor station starting at 09.30 and will end at 17.30. The Flying Scotsman sessions will take place at Princes Risborough North signalbox, with access via private walkway from the station platform (and steep stairs to the 'box).
