Sunday for Steam & Vintage Diesel

It could be a good time to visit the Railway - as the trains are generally lightly loaded and there are plenty of seats available so that you can spread out and thoroughly enjoy the journey.

See the foothills of the Chilterns change from winter drab to spring green and you might spot some of our local wildlife too - it is rather rare not to see the Red Kites whirling overhead.

All the while your steam locomotive is lazily billowing out steam past your window and the vintage diesel is growling its way along the line on the gentle 50-minute round trip. Our volunteers will be making their way through the train with an at-seat service of tea, coffee and light refreshments.

Also, why not make several trips along the line - your travel tickets are valid all day long, of course!

On Sunday 22 April only Chinnor Windmill is open (date amended due to the Bank Holiday) and the 'mill volunteers welcome visitors between 10.00 and 15.00 - we think it is well worth a visit and you can walk from the station or is just 3 minutes away by car.

DEPARTURE TIMES:

Trains depart Chinnor station at 11.00*, 12.15, 13.30, 15.00 and 16.30.

Each round trip is both steam and vintage diesel hauled - 'top and tailed' so that your train can reach into our long siding* at Princes Risborough (our volunteers are busily constructing both a platform and run-around loop for the steam loco to change ends), and the return journey takes approximately 50 minutes in duration.

LATE ADVICE (11.00 on 20.04.2018): *The 11.00 on 22 April may only go as far as the curve leading into Princes Risborough station and therefore it will not be possible to view the works taking place if you travel on this service.

Booking information

Tickets are valid all day long and we have lots of seats available on every train. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the journey!

If you miss the online booking deadline (20.00 on evening before travel) - then you can still buy your tickets when you get to the station - please allow sufficient time to stroll across from the car park, go to the booking office and then choose your seats on the train - thank you!
