We have a volunteer vacancy for a Cashier. This is an important role for the Railway as it involves the collecting and receiving of all cash takings and associated documentation from various sources at Chinnor.
The position involves validating takings against documentation and solving any subsequent discrepancies and allocating takings correctly within the Company and Association accounts. Any cash takings need to be banked. Change and float bags need to be delivered back to the Railway on operating days (March to December) and for evening events (one or two per month April through to October).
The person appointed will need to live within five miles of Chinnor if takings need to be delivered to them or items returned to the Railway by another volunteer. A wider area would be acceptable if the person would be prepared to collect and return floats etc. to the Railway themselves. This would probably only be required once per week.
This is a responsible and trusted position and applicants need to have a meticulous approach and preferably have some previous bookkeeping experience.
