1369 Pannier Tank

Making a welcome return to the Railway especially for our Christmas & New Year services is Pannier Tank 1369. She is a firm favourite with our visitors (as well as her drivers and firemen!) and will be in charge of the 'Santa Specials' and also the end of year / New Year 'Winter Warmers'.

She made the trip from her home at the South Devon Railway to Chinnor during mid November and is steaming well and raring to go!!  Our thanks as always to our good friends at the South Devon Railway.

A relative youngster at a mere 90 years old (!) she spent her early years based at Swindon before moving to perform docks duties at Weymouth. Although starting life as mainly a shunting locomotive, she was later fitted with steam heating capacity which heats the carriages she pulls - something we can all be glad of on these chilly winter days!!

We hope you enjoy experiencing this wonderful, typical GWR engine doing what she does so well, and taking us all for a magical steam train journey through the Chiltern countryside on the way to see Santa at the North Pole (otherwise known as Chinnor!).
