Delights for both young and old
Travelling along the Chiltern foothills with Red Kites whirling overhead and the steam curling lazily past your window is sure to evoke memories of yesteryear for some; but for others, a steam hauled train ride is just a wonderful and completely new travel experience.
Make up a group of 15 or more
On Standard Days which operate from Mothering Sunday to Hallowe'en we may be able to offer travel concessions or discounted fares for groups of 15 or more.
In addition, we can provide childrens' birthday parties including catering and party-bags.
On Restaurant Car services and special events such as Santa Steam Specials groups are welcome, although there are NO discounted fares for these services.
For bona-fide groups of 15 or more from Brownies, Cubs and similar organisations travelling on Santa Steam Specials, we may be able to offer concessions for a limited number of accompanying adults only. Email with organisation details, numbers of adults/children and date and time.
Tour Operators and Coach Companies
An increasing number of tour operators and coach companies are choosing to include a visit as part of their programme. Whether you want a block of seats reserved or a complete carriage to yourselves or a boxed cream tea served on the train, we can arrange.
Chinnor station is just 3 miles from Junction 6 on the M40 and it is easy to reach, plus we have a large parking area which can easily accommodate coaches. Add to this the gentle 7.5-mile return trip takes approximately 1-hour and it means any visit is just about the right length of time to fit in with whatever activities you have planned for the rest of your tour via the Chilterns.
The tour guide and driver will travel free, or alternatively obtain complimentary refreshments in the Station Cafe at Chinnor station.
Charters
Due to the large number of operating dates we offer to the public and also to rail industry bodies for staff training, and recognising that we are an entirely volunteer run organisation, we cannot generally deliver charters.
However, we will do our utmost to make your visit unique and enjoyable on any publicly advertised operating day.
Please note that all large parties need to be booked in advance.
