Groups & Coach Parties

Delights for both young and old. Travelling along the Chiltern foothills with Red Kites whirling overhead and the steam curling lazily past your window is sure to evoke memories of yesteryear for some; but for others, a steam hauled train ride is just a wholly wonderful and completely new travel experience!

Make up a Party of 20 (or more). In our standard open plan seating, we offer concessions for groups of 20 or more when you book in advance. We can reserve seats together for you and your party, or you can even book your own carriage depending on how many people are travelling. Jan, our volunteer Catering Manager, will be pleased to discuss her various catering packages with you, including parties for children.

You could also take advantage of our Restaurant car services, including Afternoon Teas, Ploughman's Lunches and Cream Teas, although these do not attract concessionary or discounted fares.

If you would like to know more, make a booking, or if you simply have an idea in mind that you would like to discuss, then please leave a message on 07718 003133 and we'll get back to you on Monday to Friday (10.00-16.00).

Tour Operators and Coach Companies. We are delighted that an increasing number of tour operators and coach companies are choosing to include a visit to the railway as part of their programme. Whether you want a block of seats reserved, a complete carriage to yourselves, or even to hire a complete train, then we'll be pleased to meet and exceed your expectations. We are pleased to offer boxed cream teas at your seats when booked in advance. If you wish we can discuss Restaurant car services, including Afternoon Teas, Ploughman's Lunches and Cream Teas, although these do not attract concessionary or discounted fares.

Chinnor station is just 3 miles from Junction 6 on the M40 and it is easy to reach, plus we have a large parking area which can easily accommodate coaches. Add to this the gentle 7.5-mile return trip takes approximately 50 minutes and it means a trip on the railway is just about the right length of time to fit in with whatever activities you have planned for the rest of your full-day or half-day tour via the Chilterns.

Please discuss arrangements with us so that we can make your visit both memorable and affordable. Your tour guide and driver can of course travel free (except on Restaurant car services), or alternatively obtain complimentary refreshments in the Tea Room at Chinnor station. To find out more please leave a message on 07718 003133 and we'll get back to you on Monday to Friday (10.00-16.00).

Charters - Due to the large number of operating dates we plan to offer to the general public and also to rail industry bodies for staff training purposes in 2022, and recognising that we are an entirely volunteer run organisation, we cannot deliver charters in 2022, i.e. steam or diesel services on days when we are not already due to operate. We will do our utmost to make your visit as unique and enjoyable on any publicly advertised operating day.
