Autumn Colours Steam & Diesel

Autumn is a lovely time to visit the Railway and our beech woodlands along the foothills of the Chilterns are full of autumn blush with glorious golds and reds on display. You might spot some of our local wildlife too - it is rather rare not to see the Red Kites whirling overhead.

It could be a good time to visit the Railway anyway, because the trains in the autumn are more generally lightly loaded and there are plenty of seats available - so that you can spread out and thoroughly enjoy the journey.

On 07 October we've got crafts for kids happening on the morning trains to further enhance families experience of the trip - please see more at Sue the Boxcrazy lady. And you can reserve those craft spaces on the train when you book your tickets altogether by adding them to your Shopping Cart.

Our volunteers will be making their way through the train with an at-seat service of tea, coffee and light refreshments. All the while your steam locomotive is lazily billowing out steam past your window and the vintage diesel is growling its way along the line on the gentle 50-minute round trip.

Also, why not make several trips along the line - your travel tickets are valid all day long, of course!

On 30 Sept, 07 & 14 Oct trains will depart Chinnor station and Princes Risborough station (Platform 4) as shown below. Trains will be both steam and vintage diesel hauled and will be 'top and tailed' until our volunteers are able to reconstruct additional track and pointwork, to allow the locomotive to detach and re-attach at the head of the train:

At Princes Risborough station services are provided by Chiltern Railways - except that the heritage line provides a ticket office located on Platform 4, where you can book tickets to travel to Chinnor on the same day.
