Steam footplate observer experience

The perfect taster experience for 'steam buffs' and it could make a lovely gift for a birthday or to celebrate a memorable occasion!

Only one lucky person on selected dates can join our steam crew from an observer perspective for an approximately 1-hour long round trip.

The journey includes some arduous work by our steam locomotive including the 1 in 68 banks, and you will see everything from the working-end and experience the sights, sounds, smell and heat of a ‘live’ steam engine!

Our expert and highly experienced driver and fireman will be pleased to answer your questions and show you various points of interest during the journey.

Please note that you will NOT be invited to touch any of the controls and you will NOT be driving or firing the locomotive - this is purely observing our steam locomotive and crew in action whilst travelling with them on the footplate.

THE PARTICIPANT MUST:

1.    Be aged 18 years and over
2.    Be reasonably fit and in good health - fit enough to climb on and off the locomotive from ground level unaided
3.    Be able to stand on the locomotive footplate for the approximately 1-hour round-trip
4.    Wear old clothing that fully covers the arms and legs
5.    Wear sturdy shoes or boots that protect your feet - trainers are not permitted
6.    Not travel in the cab under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Please note that the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway reserves the right to reschedule any steam observer experience or refuse entry for whatever reason. The ride is for one adult participant aged 18 years or over and no other guests are allowed on the footplate.
