We will be raising the roof with yet another diesel spectacular on the weekend of 27 to 29 March 2020!
With an expected five or more locomotives operating and also selected locos hauling a good couple of hundred ton special up our 1 in 68 inclines means that you’ll certainly get the full music of the selected locomotives. Our service will be very intensive to allow you to sample all of the fine machines on our scenic and nicely graded route.
We are delighted that Class 33 '33201' has already been announced as the first guest locomotive, courtesy of Ian Mandley. We're further delighted to announce that Class 55 '55019' Royal Highland Fusilier, courtesy of the The Deltic Preservation Society, will be starring in our March Diesel Gala. The DPS's 55019 will be the first of the Deltics to ever visit the Chinnor branch.
We're also pleased to offer driver experiences on Royal Highland Fusilier on 24 & 25 March too!
55019 will line up with 33201, 97205, 37227 and 08825/97808. More announcements in due course!
We will also be offering Cab rides on each service to enable you to really enjoy the atmosphere and get a driver's view of the line. Depending on crewing levels, there will be Brake van rides with our NSE Class 08 08825/97808 with our shark brake van between departures and arrivals at Princes Risborough.
We will have barrels of real ale on offer with some local cider on tap too! Exact ales and ciders to be announced nearer the time.
Please note: there will be no steam locomotive running and only vintage diesels will operate over this weekend - therefore there will be no steam heating in our carriages, but should the weather be stacked against us... our Cambrian Café at Chinnor will be serving plenty of hot coffee and tea, plus hot bacon and sausage baps, all at our usual moderate catering prices!
If you are looking for something more to do whilst in Chinnor then see our guide 'Stroll Around Chinnor Village' which includes links to the Wee Bookshop and The Village Centre for food and drink, ditto Bar/Restaurant meals in local pubs, or say visit the local Church, and the guide also lists other places that may be of interest.
Not yet available - however trains will call at Princes Risborough Platform 4 for connection with Chiltern Railways trains.
