Diesel Gala

With up to six locomotives operating on 27 to 29 March and also selected locos hauling a good couple of hundred ton special up our 1 in 68 inclines - means that you’ll certainly get the full music of the selected locomotives. Our service will be very intensive to allow you to sample all of the fine machines on our scenic and nicely graded route.

We're delighted to announce that Class 31 '31128' 'Charybdis', courtesy of Richard Goodyear, will also be joining our Diesel Gala. Unfortunately, our very own Class 31 '97205' failed at 01.00 hours on 9 March when hauling a loco inbound to join the Gala! Our volunteers will look at what they can do to fix the traction motor problem, but meanwhile we have taken 97205 off the loco roster (more details when we know some more.)

Also joining the event is Class 55 '55019' Royal Highland Fusilier, courtesy of the The Deltic Preservation Society (the first of the Deltics to ever visit the Chinnor branch).

Courtesy of Chawton Junction Railway Company, Class 33 '33053' will be joining the Gala. (33053 returns to Chinnor after a 16 years.)

The final line up stands with 55019, 31128, 97205 (31163), 33053, 37227, 08825/97808, 08629, 58023. Loco allocations will be updated in the timetables below nearer the time.
