One year ago at The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway, volunteers completed the restoration of a 60 year old one coach train nicknamed a ‘Bubblecar’. It used to operate between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury and from April 2019 started operating between Princes Risborough and Chinnor. The overhaul took several years and several vital additions were made to its original design, including some at-seat tables and a bar-servery!
Before the Covid-19 virus stopped operations on the C&PRR, this train quickly became popular for groups up to 50 strong to charter for eight mile outings on the line. It was also due to be used in partnership with the Chinnor based Chilterns Conservation Board as a traveling lecture theatre in 2020 where on-board exerts would provide a commentary on various aspects of local nature and history.
This train, designated as a Class 121 by British Railways, won a prestigious award as the UK’s best restoration in its class at the end of 2019.
The Volunteers at The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway need your support in these challenging and uncertain times. No matter how large or small, every donation will be welcomed and it's easy to contribute on our donations page - not only will it help us maintain the Railway, but to reopen it as soon as we are allowed and the safety checks have been completed.
We'll be here to help you plan a trip and to welcome you with open arms when the time is right.
Thank you for your support.
