We are delighted that GWR Steam Locomotive No. 6412 from our friends at the South Devon Railway will be providing steam power on all our steam hauled trains from now until the end of the 2021 season. The 87-year-old locomotive has been a regular and strong performer on our line and is much loved by all our Visitors and Volunteers. See the panorama of the Chiltern foothills unfold as the steam drifts gently past your window - you might spot some of our local wildlife too, and it is rather rare not to see Red Kites whirling overhead! For more information on what you can see en-route please take a look at our Journey Guide from Chinnor to Princes Risborough.
Our range of concessionary fares for children, seniors, local residents, Blue Lamp card holders etc., will continue to be available in Open-plan seating areas. An enhanced cleaning and sanitising regime will continue on trains and these similar measures proved successful and popular during the periods when the Railway continued to operate prior to most Covid-19 restrictions being lifted.
You may choose to break your journey at Chinnor or Princes Risborough and travel back by a different train service on the same day, and/or you may choose to make a further trip of the line on the same day - but these seats are limited and cannot be guaranteed.
When you book your Flexible tickets from Chinnor or Princes Risborough they DO NOT include seat reservations - however at least one full carriage is UNRESERVED on every service ahown below. For seat reassurance intending visitors are advised to book and travel from Chinnor where Free Parking is also included - please select the option Buy RESERVED SEAT Tickets from Chinnor.
If you purchase FLEXIBLE tickets, then seats may be taken in the carriage marked 'UNRESERVED' and there are at least 64 unallocated seats available on every train - other carriages will be for RESERVED seat passenges. We request the wearing of a face covering in the 'UNRESERVED' carriage please, especially if on a busy service.
OPEN-PLAN SEATS: these carriages offer seating around a table for between one and up to four people.
We are delighted to offer a range of even further Adult Half-price Fare Reductions to certain Concessionary Card Holders for travel in Open-plan seats and these include:
There is a 'POP-UP' REFRESHMENT STALL on Chinnor station serving Teas, Coffees, Cakes, Crisps, Shortbread, Coke & Diet Coke, Apple & Orange Juice Cartons and Bottled Water. In addition we will have a selection of Sandwiches and Bacon, Sausage, Veggie Baps etc., all freshly made on request. Payment by the 'new normal' of Contactless Card is greatly appreciated.
Either before or after your train ride and when the weather is good - you could try a healthy but gentle Chinnor Circular Walk, or if you have small children it is just a short stroll from the station to the nearby Chinnor Children's Play Area. If you are looking for something more in the local area please see our What to see and do section for more information.

You will be able to transfer your tickets to an equivalent service on another date (where available) or transfer the value of your booking to a Gift Certificate to use at a future date if either a) Government restrictions mean we cannot operate the service/event, or that you are not permitted to travel to the Railway or b) You or a member of your party test positive for Covid-19 or are required to self-isolate and you notify us on 07979 055366 at least 2 hours prior to departure of your booked train service. If you have symptoms of Covid-19 or have been in contact with someone who has you MUST NOT attend the Railway. All of our other usual booking terms remain unchanged.
We welcome well-behaved pet dogs, who can travel for free - but not on seats or in restaurant areas - please bring a blanket or similar for them to sit on - thank you. Buggies and Strollers cannot be accommodated on the train. They can be left on the platform at our stations, or if travelling by car you may prefer to leave them in your vehicle for added security.
