The South Devon Railway will be providing GWR locomotive No.6412 as the power for our steam-hauled trains until the end of the 2022 season.

• From the comfort of your thoughtfully reserved seats on our steam-hauled services enjoy the panorama of the Chiltern foothills as the scenery gently unfolds and the steam drifts past your window
• You might spot some of our local wildlife too, and it is rather rare not to see Red Kites whirling overhead!

Your reserved seats on the steam-hauled train starting out from Chinnor can be made in:

• Your own private compartment for up to 6-persons - with drinks and snacks included as standard
• At tables for 4-persons in open-plan saloons with screens between seating bays - we will aim wherever possible NOT to reserve other families / individuals at the same table
• Our range of concessionary fares for children, seniors, local residents, Blue Lamp card holders etc., will also be available in open-plan seating areas

To add to our steam service departures - additional trains will operate with classic diesel traction as shown below (some of our veteran diesel locomotives are 60 years or older). And because your tickets are also issued as All Day Rovers, you can travel in the unreserved seats on any of these additional services, and there will be ample seats on these trains too!

STARTING OUT AT CHINNOR - PRICES & YOUR CHOICE OF RESERVED SEATING ON STEAM SERVICES:

When you book your tickets below they will include seat reservations for one complete round trip at the departure time shown for the steam train from Chinnor to Princes Risborough and return - the round trip journey time is approximately 1-hour. See also below for information on 'Break of Journey and Multiple Journeys on Same Date' - your tickets are also available in unreserved accommodation for the remainder of the day.

COMPARTMENTS: for your comfort and peace of mind - you can purchase your own Compartment which is for your exclusive use for one complete round trip of the line. It is your own self-contained space for up to SIX persons - which means that once onboard you can close the internal door, then relax and enjoy the journey with family and friends. In addition, the price includes any drink or snack from the at-seat Trolley service for each person.

OPEN-PLAN SEATS: these carriages offer seating around a table for between one and up to four people for one complete round trip of the line. We will aim wherever possible NOT to reserve other families / individuals at the same table. If the reserved seats in the Open-plan carriage are SOLD OUT on your chosen service, then we always have at least one full coach of 64-SEATS AVAILABLE on every train available and you can BOOK FLEXIBLE TICKETS HERE OR buy them at our stations on the day!

We welcome one Wheelchair User and a Carer / Companion on all steam trains on Standard Travel Days with a prior reservation. We also welcome well-behaved pet dogs, who can travel for free - but not on seats or in restaurant areas - please bring a blanket or similar for them to sit on - thank you. All ages must be included on your ticket to receive an allocated seat. Up to TWO additional under 3-yrs may travel free of charge. Buggies and Strollers cannot be accommodated on the train. They can be left on the platform at our stations, or if arriving by car you may prefer to leave them in your vehicle for added security.

BREAK OF JOURNEY & MULTIPLE JOURNEYS:

On the above dates you may choose to break your journey at Princes Risborough and travel back by a different train service on the same day, and / or you may also choose to make additional trips of the line on the same day. But in all such cases you will then need to travel in our UNRESERVED section of the train.

There is a Station Café at Chinnor serving Teas, Coffees, Cakes, Crisps, Shortbread, Coke & Diet Coke, Apple & Orange Juice Cartons and Bottled Water. In addition we will have a selection of Sandwiches and Bacon, Sausage, Veggie Baps etc., all freshly made on request. Payment by Contactless Card is greatly appreciated. 

OTHER LOCAL THINGS TO SEE & DO:
