On Sunday 04 September the steam hauled Watlington Flyer will offer comfortable seats for a Wine & Cheese Tasting Afternoon. It will be a unique adventure and you can enjoy the Wine & Cheese tasters as we gently huff and puff our way over the Bucks/Oxon border on our nostalgic steam hauled train.
About the Tasting: in partnership with Hannah and Joe from The Deli at No.5 in Thame - we invite you to take your seats for THREE delicious and very different continental wine tastings accompanied by tasters of cheeses:
- The first wine is an Italian white named Bellantonio - which will be paired with a mild and buttery cheddar cheese from Devon
- The second wine will be a French rose named Hostellierie Pierre De Taille which will be paired with Somerset camembert
- The third wine will be a red from Spain named Bajel Pirata which will be paired with the blue cheese Lincoln blue
Alongside the tastings Hannah and Joe will have three English wines (one sparkling) on the menu to buy by the glass or bottle. These will be Daws Hill sparkling rose, Poulton Hill Bacchus white, and Halfpenny Green Penny red, and there will also be truckles of cheese for sale.
It means you can awaken your senses with the tasters and then go on to buy any additional wines by the glass or bottle to share, and all to suit your palette and fit in with the rest of your afternoon. And, of course, you can buy bottles of wine to take home with you too!
Timetable:
The Wine & Cheese Tasting afternoon begins on the 14.00 steam departure from Chinnor and finishes at 16.33 (on arrival back at Chinnor).
Visitors wishing to arrive by rail at Princes Risborough may wish to travel by the 13.05 connecting diesel service to join the 14.00 steam departure (and alight at Princes Risborough at 15.51).

Facilities at Stations:
At Chinnor station there is FREE parking for train ticket holders, plus the station cafe and a souvenir shop, toilets etc.
At Princes Risborough station most services are provided by Chiltern Railways - see details at the station guide. For car parking at Princes Risborough see the Chiltern Railways parking page (present charge in July 2022 for off-peak parking is £5.50).

- Advance booking only - including any meal options.
- To be on our Wine & Cheese Taster service you must be 18+ years.
- If you wish to sit with another party, please make the booking in one name.
- Seats are available in blocks of two, three or four around a table.
- You will receive an email confirmation of your booking by return. Your ticket with your seat allocation will follow.
- We are unable to offer any member discounts or concessions.
- For those travelling by rail to join our train at Princes Risborough please do carefully check your train times.
- Due to the internal dimensions of our heritage coaches, we regret that less able persons can only be accommodated if they are not confined to a wheelchair.
