Celebrating Chilterns Chalk at the Railway:

Illustration of a chalk landscape by Livi Gosling.

The landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Chiltern Hills has been shaped by its underlying chalk bedrock - formed millions of years ago, but still having an impact today. To celebrate this extraodinary landscape, the Chilterns Conservation Board is holding a festival of events from January to April 2024.

Celebrating Chilterns Chalk - Chalk day at the Railway!

Join us for the final event of Chilterns Chalk – a chalk-filled day with the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway! Enjoy talks by local geologist Haydon Bailey and archaeologist Wendy Morrison as you take the train journey through the Chiltern chalk hills, learning about the formation of chalk and how it has been used now and in the past, along with other chalk activities to get involved in!
