Stop Press - Kids-for-a-Quid £1 - see below!
GWR Steam Locomotive No 1369 from the South Devon Railway will be hauling our steam trains on Saturday and Sunday 28 & 29 December and again on New Year's Day 01 January 2025. You can join the trains at either Chinnor or Princes Risborough stations - for car parking and public transport access please see the section on Arriving. Then choose your seats, sit back, relax and enjoy the winter panorama alongside the Chiltern Hills. As the lovely views open out with the Vale of Aylesbury stretching into the distance, you may spot deer or other local wildlife including the Red Kites overhead. For further information please see our Journey Guide.
From the shop end of Chinnor station platform take a gentle stroll through the Light Walk to enlighten your day with the visual excitement of lively lights and stimulating sounds of memorable music to make your Winter Warmer visit one to remember. Then step through to the Winter Wonderland Model Railway which is put together by John and Jack from The Children’s Leaflets and Activities Group:
John reminds us the display is not designed to be an enthusiasts’ model railway and instead it is more for the enjoyment of younger children - but of course grandparents, parents and older children may enjoy it too. Enjoy this extra festive event before it hibernates!
Standard Day tickets are issued as go-as-you-please Day Rovers and are valid on every train. Stay for a couple of trips - or come for just one return journey if you only prefer a taster - it's the same price and you can also break your journey at Chinnor or Princes Risborough for a stroll into the village or town.
