Santa's Steam Specials were enjoyed by thousands of happy families last year and his trains do fill up rather quickly nearer the day of travel!
Santa works continuously throughout the year to try and make sure everything is just right and his Chief Booking Elf has decided that Adult prices will stay the same again this year and child prices are the same for the sixth year running.
Santa and his Elves will visit every family during the journey and he will provide quality presents for all fare-paying children and young people between the ages of 1-15 yrs. Everyone can also enjoy a spiced hot berry cordial and a mince pie served at your seat (squashes and biscuits are available as an alternative for younger children).
Also at Chinnor station on Sunday 16 December the Haddenham Mummers will perform at intervals their interpretation of a local traditional folk drama or Mummers Play. The enactments will take place in our marquee which is next to the platform. And Chinnor Windmill is also open on 16 December between 10.00 - 15.00 and it's a stroll through the village or only a few minutes by car.
We've also got Boxcrazy-Sue Dunnett and her helper Barbara doing Christmas Craft sessions for Children in our marquee alongside Chinnor station from 10.00 onwards on 16, 20, 22 & 23 December 2018. There are a variety of projects that can be achieved and which will enhance you and your children's experience of your visit. The cost of the craft session is a modest £4 extra per Child (payable to Sue on the day, cash or card) and Sue & Barbara say there's no need to reserve and do please just drop in to see them!
Reviewed 23 December 2017. We travelled down from Nottingham to visit relatives in Chinnor and to take this trip. There were 3 adults and two children (7 years and 3 years) in our group on the Santa Express. The atmosphere, both on and off the train in the station was really fantastic. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic at all times. Santa and his elves duly arrived whilst the train journey was taking place, chatting to the wide-eyed children and actually giving them really good Christmas presents. The best pre-Christmas event imaginable and we can't wait until the next themed trip!
Reviewed 22 December 2017 via mobile.Went with my wife, daughter, sister in law, brother in law, nephew, niece onto the Santa Train. Here is my feedback: - staff including Santa: most of them volunteers and very friendly - service: with a smile - food and drinks: our party had tea, coffee, squash, biscuits, mince pies which were all very nice. - Christmas presents: very nice and given according to kids’ ages. Everybody was happy. Recommend this venue as an ideal place for a Family morning out.
Reviewed 22 December 2017. Have been many times before but this was one of very few 'attractions' offering anything much for kids on a Thursday before Christmas! (This is not a railway on the scale of The Severn Valley etc so my comments are based upon expectation v experience on the day). Perfectly organised. Plenty of car parking. Great effort / attitude from the volunteers. Sensibly priced. (Official hygiene rating for Station Buffet Carriage 5/5). Well done C & PR Railway.
Reviewed 5 December 2017 .Took the Grandchildren on the Santa Steaming - This was a wonderful trip. From the beginning until end the children loved the journey.
Your journey from Chinnor to Princes Risborough and back takes approximately 50 minutes - which is probably just about the right journey length for the younger children.
At Princes Risborough there really isn't enough time to leave the train to explore and we certainly don't want you to miss Santa as he does his rounds (and we don't want to leave anyone behind either, as Santa says a punctual departure will be necessary!).
From the comfort of your reserved seat you may be able to view trains on the mainline passing by etc.
