News for Young Train Enthusiasts:

When you come for a 'big train ride' with younger children then be sure to pop into Chinnor station marquee - where our dedicated volunteers John and Jack from the Children’s Leaflets & Activities Group (CLAG has been operating since 2023!) have a great area for families to enjoy; including their fantastic ‘Pull & Push’ children’s play railway layout, which is ideal for kids aged 3–7 years!

This interactive play railway allows children to pull or push trains through various scenic locations, including a city, a town with a castle and harbour, a seaside village, and even a slate quarry and mine. There’s also a surprise area for added fun! The layout covers 96 square feet with over 40 feet of track and four panoramic areas to explore.

To give you an idea of some of the track layout Jack made a short YouTube video HERE. It’s a hands-on experience for the little ones on the day of your visit and also for parents / grandparents and even for older children: in fact, everyone might enjoy being a train driver!

There is also a second smaller layout called the SPIRAL Model Railway. This is screened off and allows children to follow working trains as they pass the Sleeping Volcano, ‘Mill on the Hill’ and Sikora Junction Station. We prepare hunts on this layout for older children to complete. Family cooperation can make this a really fun activity.

These two layouts have a combined area of over 115 square feet. This must be a county record so come along and enjoy yourselves.
