Beary Special Day - Kids travel FREE with their Teddy:

A Teddy Bear remains one of the most beloved toys for children. Despite the arrival of new toys, Teddy Bears continue to hold a special place in the hearts of kids everywhere.

A Quick History of the Teddy Bear - rewind to 1902 when Theodore Roosevelt was the President of the United States. During a hunting trip in Mississippi, he famously refused to shoot a bear cub. This incident was widely reported, inspiring Morris Michtom, a New York store owner, to create a new bear toy. He asked President Roosevelt for permission to name it “Teddy Bear,” and the rest is history.

“If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a…” Well, not the woods, but the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway! On Bank Holiday weekend - with our Heritage Diesel Class 47, then it’s time for children to bring their Teddy Bears out for a day of fun and make them the star of the show!

Our Station Master Teddy, who makes all the rules, has declared that accompanied children who bring their favorite bear will TRAVEL FREE. Even if Teddy can’t make it, it’s still only £1 for 3-15 year-olds, and under 3s go free.

We also offer a range of adult fares from £10 - £16. Adults accompanying the young ones might even dig out their childhood bears and snap a few selfies to share on Facebook and Instagram. (Sorry, no further discounts for adults with their bears!)

During your visit, you might meet our larger-than-life Station Master Teddy. Plus, there’s a Teddy Bear Hunt at Chinnor station—can you find all the hidden bears?

Pull & Push children’s railway layout - when you come for a 'big train ride' with younger children then be sure to pop into Chinnor station marquee - where our dedicated volunteers John and Jack from the Children’s Leaflets & Activities Group have a great area for families to enjoy (open until 15.30); including their fantastic ‘Pull & Push’ children’s play railway layout, ideal for kids aged 3–7 years.
