We are delighted to welcome all Visitors to the Railway, including those who are less able and any accompanying carer or Assistance / Guide dog. Some of our Volunteers have disabilities and with their experiences and advice, we hope that the information shown below will help those travelling with us:
Level access suitable for wheelchairs is available via the old Station Approach road, and utilising a side-gate to the platform near the station building (OX39 4ER). Whilst parking is not generally allowed on this privately-owned road, you can drop passengers off at the side-gate and then retrace your route and park up in the main station car park (and similarly return via the same route at the end of your visit). Access to the old Station Approach road is gained by turning right into the road on the Chinnor village side of the railway bridge and then along the front of the dental surgery. Please drive slowly, keeping a good lookout for children who often play in the area.
Passengers who are less able are encouraged to call General Enquiries on 07979 055366 (10.00 - 16.00) before travelling, or alternatively please ask to speak with the Duty Line Manager on arrival at Chinnor station. We can then ensure that our Volunteer staff are informed and that, if required, the gate from the old Station Approach road is open if needed.
Toilet facilities for disabled visitors are available at Chinnor station.
Station services including car parking and facilities (lifts, toilet facilities, etc) are all provided by Chiltern Railways - except that the heritage line provides a separate ticket office located on Platform 4, where you can book tickets to travel to and from Chinnor on days when the heritage line is running trains.
For Chiltern Railways Accessible Travel and car parking information please see here. Or for information on Chiltern Railways station facilities please see their Princes Risborough Station Guide here.
For information and TO BOOK WHEELCHAIR space please call 07979-055366 (10.00-16.00).
Less-able Concessionary tickets - for visually impaired or those whose disability necessitates a carer - when one full price Adult Rover ticket is purchased at station ticket offices the less-able person together with one accompanying carer may travel for the total cost of £16.00. The same Concessionary ticket arrangements also apply for wheelchair users (to book wheelchair spaces please see above).
Please note this concessionary fare offer is not available on any dining services or special event days, e.g. not available on Lunches, Teas, Santa Specials, Carol Evening, etc.
Finally, we always welcome any feedback and you can contact us at enquiries@chinnorrailway.co.uk
