Members Day on 17 August 2024

Image shows the banner held in front of the train as a photo opportunity for the press on Saturday 20 August 1994.

Celebrating 30 years – Happy Birthday C&PRRA!

Members will already know the history of our Association and that we had an extended opening with Members only riding on 13-14 August 1994 and our first Fare Paying visitors travelling with us on 20-21 August 1994. Sir William McAlpine then 'officially' opened the Railway at 10.00 hours on 27 August 1994 with invited dignitaries and guests, including from local Councils (Chinnor, Wycombe and South Oxfordshire), British Rail Officials, representatives from other Heritage Railways, and the press.

Our first trains ran with ‘motive power provided by Class 08 Haversham and two coaches formed the passenger accommodation (RMB and BSO). Operated in Pull and Push mode to and from Wainhill, the return journey was controlled by the guard.

To celebrate our 30 Years Anniversary of running trains a 'Members Day' will take place on Saturday 17 August 2024 (only this time we will be going to and from Princes Risborough!). Our Class 08 Haversham is out of action waiting extensive restoration and this is expected to take many months more to complete. However, to emulate the 1994 pioneering spirit we will aim to run with our working Class 08 diesel 08825, which will haul 4-coach trains as below.

Note: on Saturday 17 August 2024 the Railway will be CLOSED to the general public.
